GOURMET GRILLED CHEESE – April 12 – National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day

Serves 4

  • 1 cup provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon white wine
  • 8 slices of sandwich bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter

  1. Heat a frying pan over medium heat.  
  2. Mix the cheeses and wine in a bowl.  
  3. Put ½ tablespoon butter on one side of the bread and place butter side down on the pan.  
  4. Put ¼ of the cheese mixture on the bread
  5. Put ½ tablespoon butter on one side of the bread and place on top of the cheese mixture, butter side up.  
  6. Repeat with the remaining sandwiches. Put a cake pan upside down over the frying pan to help heat the cheese without burning the bread.  
  7. Turn sandwiches over when the bread is golden brown – 5-8 minutes each side.
