BROILED LOBSTER TAILS – September 25 – National Lobster Day

Serves 4

  • 4 whole lobster tails
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 cup butter melted
  • 1 lemon cut into wedges

Preheat oven to high and set rack in the upper middle location.  Set lobster tails on a baking sheet.  With sharp kitchen scissors carefully cut the top of the lobster tail, shell down to the tip of the tail, avoiding the meat.  Devein and remove any grit, if needed.  Carefully pull the shell down, so the meat looks like it is sitting on top of the shell.  Mix the paprika, garlic powder, salt and white pepper in a small bowl.  Spread the spices over the lobster tails.  Place in oven and cook until meat is opaque and white, 8-10 minutes.  Serve with butter and lemon.

Tomorrow:  September is National Chicken Month.  Tomorrow’s recipe will include Chicken.
