MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH – September 17 – National Monte Cristo Day

Serves 4


  • 8 slices of sandwich bread
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices cooked ham
  • 8 slices cooked turkey
  • 4 slices swiss cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Cooking spray
  • Berry jam


Spread bread with mayonnaise and mustard.  Place 2 slices ham, Swiss cheese, and 2 slices turkey on bread and top with an additional slice of bread with mayonnaise and mustard.  Beat eggs and milk in a small bowl.  Heat a frying pan over medium heat.  Spray pan with cooking spray.  Dip the sandwich in the egg and milk mixture and place in the pan.  Brown the sandwich on both sides, about 5 minutes per side.  Serve hot with berry jam.
