GRANDMA’S CHERRY PIE – February 20 – National Cherry Pie Day

GRANDMA’S CHERRY PIE – February 20 – National Cherry Pie Day

[ingredients title=”Ingredients”]

  • 1 bottle bing cherries*
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Pie crust, recipe here

* Grandma used home bottled cherries.  You can substitute bottled cherries, one quart, but you might need to adjust the sugar.  Fresh or frozen pitted cherries and cherry juice could also be used but you would need to cook them on the stove for longer as the bottled cherries are already cooked.
